One of my favorite ways to make Santa “real” to my kids is to leave his footprints in the living room on Christmas morning. I get questions about this every year. Here is how I do it.
I take a pair of my husband’s shoes and BAKING SODA. I put baking soda in all caps, because you wouldn’t believe how many people have asked me if I use powdered sugar. Do not, I repeat DO NOT sprinkle powdered sugar on your rug. Baking soda makes for easy clean up, is never sticky, and is even a natural deodorizer.
I take the shoes and I set them out like walking foot prints and sprinkle baking soda around the perimeter of each shoe and repeat until I have realistic looking footprints.
My kids have never even questioned what the footprints are made out of and how he gets through the gas fireplace. They’ve seen The Santa Clause, so they know a chimney just appears. 🙂
