Santa Footprints

One of my favorite ways to make Santa “real” to my kids is to leave his footprints in the living room on Christmas morning.  I get questions about this every year.  Here is how I do it.

26165456_10156251807868392_8696152615683091004_n (1)I take a pair of my husband’s shoes and BAKING SODA. I put baking soda in all caps, because you wouldn’t believe how many people have asked me if I use powdered sugar.  Do not, I repeat DO NOT sprinkle powdered sugar on your rug.  Baking soda makes for easy clean up, is never sticky, and is even a natural deodorizer.

10370970_10152676480993392_5632028179326813405_nI take the shoes and I set them out like walking foot prints and sprinkle baking soda around the perimeter of each shoe and repeat until I have realistic looking footprints.

12376408_10153472215423392_1506936769156472403_nMy kids have never even questioned what the footprints are made out of and how he gets through the gas fireplace.  They’ve seen The Santa Clause, so they know a chimney just appears. 🙂
